Yeah, I was rather perturbed when I realized the IMRC seems to have lost or dumped the Red Caboose moulds.

That's a sought after but rare to find kit nowadays. Lots of the other version though.  I gave up and put a row of Archer Rivets down the edges and hoped my Yarmouth, Kadee & Hi-Tech details would make the rivet counters overlook that the ends capped the sides vs the sides covering the ends.  If you kinda squint...

Typically because the truss rods also hold the end sills on. Admittedly, since the center of the car carries no weight they could be replaced with straight tie rods, but in the case of these rebuilds, they were already there, so were left in place.

Hello,

Anybody have any tips or tricks to remove only the road numbers on a Walthers Boxcar.  I will give Walthers credit that paint is tough as nails.

I have tried the following:

Micro-sol trick which the paint laughed at and didnt budge.

Isopropyl Alcohol which kind of worked.  Have to press really hard to get it to budge and really easy to go through color paint.  The numbers came off eventually but you could still see them raised in the paint.

Scale coat thinner which took off the color and number.

Has anybody used Scalecoat wash away to remove just letters?  Little nervous to try soda blasting.  I really dont want to repaint the entire car just to change the road number.

An example - once in the web page, you can scroll down 5 pictures to find a 1953 log train on the Auburn wye. 

Searching the site is awkward - we are working on better software.  But once on Walt's Location page, click on the right site of subject 2 to get a menu.  Scroll down and check "log train" to get access to 17 pictures that meet that heading.  You can do the same on subject 1, but there are only 2 pictures.  You can also check "car-lot" but there is only one pic currently posted.

We are working to put up more pictures that have been scanned and indexed.  That's not in my shop, so I don't know how soon it will happen.

Unfortunately, you can't get more than the thumbnail from web site.  But you can contact Pacific NW Railroad Archive for a better print.  info@...

Preferred Movement Waybill. The "Freight Waybill—Preferred Movement" is the form of waybill recommended by the Railway Accounting Officers Association, and it is used by most carriers in waybilling perishable shipments. It is printed on pink paper, and while as to form it is exactly like the ordinary freight waybill, its distinctive color, and the preferred-movement notation, indicates that the shipment should receive prompt and special attention. 601. Some carriers whose requirements are not large do not provide a special form of preferred-movement waybill, but use the ordinary freight waybill for perishable shipments and indorse it "Perishable" or some equally appropriate symbol to call special attention to the  importance of the shipment covered.
