A friend on a different group is looking for manufacturer drawings (like Bettendorf and ASF) for narrow gage cast trucks. These were used by a variety of NG rr's under more modern freight cars as well as under tenders of Alco and BLW 2-8-2s.
They often had 4x7 journal bearings and typically 24 or 26 inch wheels with axle spacing's that ranged from 4 ft 2 in to 4 ft 11 inches.
Any suggestions or referrals would be appreciated
If you can assist please contact:

Prototype Rails Schedule
Guys, to be on the safe side,
For those attending Prototype Rails 2020, at least one error in an attendee’s Schedule has surfaced. I noticed many more than the usual very small number of attendee’s checking out Saturday…Jan 11, 2020. Such a checkout is noon Saturday. More than one clinician, scheduled to give a clinic Saturday night, is shown in the hotel registration as having checked out at noon Saturday. Please check your checkout time. If you are giving a clinic on Saturday afternoon/night you might want to see if you are still here. And, of course, you might want to attend a clinic given by someone not here.
Note also that the cutoff for making a reservation [ and possibly a change ] is Dec 31….Tuesday.

Re: Photo: SRLX Reefers
SRIX Trivia:
1. Text from the Railway Age article: "The Safety Car Heating & Lighting Company, New York, has had in service for a number of months an iceless refrigerator car, the principle of the operation of which is based on certain physical properties of a substance known as silica gel. No source of mechanical power is required, the operation being effected by heat from a stored gas supply. Several long haul runs have been made with the first car equipped with this system and the results have been uniformly successful. A variety of commodities have been carried, including frozen fish, oranges, and cantaloupe." 2. The December 1928 Frisco Employees Magazine reported a complimentary letter from a consignee about the railroad's service, which used SRIX 25 to transport fish from Midway, CT, to Ft. Worth, TX. The praise was for the speed of service rather than the car, however. 3. In 1930, the publication Better Fruit reported that an iceless, stoveless car, called a Silica Gel or Srix car, carried pears from Yakima to New York in March and the pears reached New York in perfect condition. The Minnesota Historical Society has Great Northern Railroad documents on the fruit claims of R. W. Gudgeon regarding movement in SRIX cars, 1933-1934. 4. The Safety Car Heating & Lighting Company was incorporated in 1887 and owned the American patents for the Pintsch compressed oil-gas system for lighting railroad cars. The company also controlled a system for heating cars. Bob Chaparro

BAR Potato Reefers with outside heaters
George Courtney
Did any of the BAR wood reefers, in the late 1940's blue and white scheme, (No Red) have outside hung heaters? I searched and saw a discussion on heaters placed inside, but no clarification on whether or not their were external heaters on these cars around 1950. I'm referring to actual reefers and not insulated boxcars.

Thanks Ben. Well, good to put that confusion aside. My first impression had been steel sheathing and imagined a re-build. Looking twice, I see no rivets.

Re: micro coat flat
spsalso
If'n you have a bottle of clear, and you wonder whether it is gloss or flat: the flat will have "sediment" (the flattening agent), after it's been sitting awhile.
When I've wanted more "flatness" in my clearcoats, I've waited for the sediment to settle, and poured off some of the clear. I did it with Floquil. And I do it for Dullcoat. Ed Edward Sutorik

Does anyone have details about the Swift refrigerator cars that are on the right side of this photo?
Scroll on the photo to enlarge it.
The lettering on the one car appears to say "Safety Refrigerator".
Thanks.
