Doug, from CanadaSouthern.com notes on NYC painting and lettering notes “A STAR under the oval herald indicates car used in grain service as per note #2 in drawing book J-56487”
I have a copy of the drawing book on my other computer. I would have to look up more details if needed.

NYC box car with a star on it

Doug Paasch

I just bought a Bachmann Silver Series (15009) box car, NYC 164613, stamped BLT 10-47.  Under the oval “NEW YORK CENTRAL SYSTEM” logo is a 5-pointed star about 10 scale inches wide.  Does anyone know what the star means?  This is not an REA car with an attendant or anything.  Just a regular 40’ box car.

Thanks,

Yes to both - I'd have to locate his e-mail - I owe him a message.   His catalog was, I think, $10 at the show - and, to be honest, worth it in terms of matching with Eric's work to get a better understanding.

Bill, thanks.   Steve Hile had been looking to contact him and finally made the connection a month or  so ago - then suggested he might be interested in the Cocoa Beach show.  Keith said yes he would, and I was very happy to see him there.

I think the catalog was $7 at the event, more by mail I am sure. I do not know about his email situation.

Railmaster is S scale, not so? Did Westerfield make S scale decals?

I'm particularly intrigued by the location of this photo since I can trace my heritage to Hoboken.  If I'm not mistaken, this is the southernmost end of the Hoboken Manufacturers Railroad, later known as the Hoboken Shore Line.  The Holland-America piers were just a couple of blocks north of the Lackawanna's Hoboken Terminal but were served from the north end of Hoboken.

I think this has been shared here before but in case not, or any new folks here... this is a short history of the Hoboken Shore Line.

In the may 2008 issue of RMC on pages 60-65 by James Kinkaid there are 3 pictures of G22b in container service with three different
crown type trucks.  One is very much like the trucks on our Railmaster car with the leaf springs in the center

Requesting instructions for Wright Trak Seaboard V10

Clark Cooper

Hello,

I recently acquired a Wright Trak Seaboard V10 kit, and a note inside the box refers me to the no-longer-existent web site to download the instructions. I searched the RealSTMFC group files and messages, just in case, but did not see them. Nor could I find them on the Wayback Machine archives of the original Wright Trak web site.

Would some kind soul be willing & able to email me a copy of the instructions?

If so, please send to csc[at]mchsi[dot]com

Thanks!

Tim and All,

The PFE reefer is an R-30-9 with a single beam under frame.

You can tell this by the jacking pad.
