CGW 1923 Box Cars

Gentlemen, I was going through RP Cyc No. 18 last night and was surprised to read that CGW 1923 ARA single-sheathed box cars came in at least two varieties. I read that a whole series of cars was delivered with Murphy roofs and 7-8 Murphy ends. However, one of the photos referenced of the series with Murphy roofs seems to show a car with a round roof. Are there any CGW experts on board that can confirm if CGW indeed had a series of cars with 7-8 ends and Murphys roofs? If this is true, a simple roof replacement on the F&C model will yield a nice CGW car at a reasonable prices (not Sunshine prices). A blooming mill is a machine that rolls ingots down to the size of a "bloom", either square or rectangular in cross section, and something larger than 36" across, but larger than a billet. Blooms were commonly re-heated for use in large applications like big structural shapes. Mesta Machine was a specialty caster and maker of large machines and stands for other large machines like presses, and also mill rolls and the like. I did some searching around on the Shapeways site and found a PRR F25 model by "Mad Dog Design" and a different GSC depressed center flat by "Lee123 Minatures and Train Models" that has space on the bottom for weight. The link to the GSC car is here:

I know the thread is old but I finally ordered the 3D printed Resin Car Works Equipco Brake Wheel and housing and it arrived today. As I am primarily an SP modeler I need a good supply of the brake wheels and housings and I have an IM B-50-23 rebuild project underway after picking up the partially assembled kit of the used shelf at my local hobby shop. I will re-use the chain and rod connecting the housing to the lever.

There is a 3D printed model, for the body casting and the trucks, for a car very similar to this on Shapeways. The car that's closest to this has no obvious way to add much weight, but there is another, less "correct" in terms of the car I'm trying to model, that has a generous open space on the bottom for weight.
I believe the specific prototype for this car was a Frisco, or perhaps the Frisco, depressed center flat. I'm working on modeling an MP one, all of these very similar to the D&H one shown. Ron Merrick

Now are there hints on how to handle the prints and mount the housing. Was there ever a photo blog on installing the parts. The further saga of the project will be on the Plastic Freight Car Builders group and shared to this group.

Schuyler I have them also - there are differences in trucks, lower decks, and upper decks for the 125 ton 2 truck, 6 axle (versus 4 truck 8 or 12 axle) cars. It may be possible to "morph" one of them into another prototype by the addition, removal or modification of certain details. I attach the only photo I have of a D&H 2 truck car - note the wood upper deck and very small triangle anchors on the lower deck.
