The only one of the 1926, 28, 29, and 30 built cars I've been able to inspect is the 1929 car at the Illinois Railway Museum, where those pix were taken. Dennis Storzek

I just found the instructions for the Sunshine kit, and now understand what you are referring to. Neither the instructions for the Speedwitch kit or Ted Culotta’s article on the cars showed this part, so I didn’t include it on the model. I don’t know
if this part was unique to the later cars that were modeled by the Sunshine kit, or if it was used on all series of Soo sawtooth boxcars. I also looked at a number of photos of Soo sawtooth boxcars. The few that showed the brake cylinder did not seem to
contain the mechanism shown on the Sunshine instructions. Hopefully one of our Soo Line experts can shed more light on this subject.
Sincerely,

KCS boxcar
Richard Remiarz
Attached are photos of a KCS Interim AAR boxcar I just completed. It was built from a Speedwitch kit. The flat finish dried less than 2 hours before packing the car and bringing it to the Twin Cities Modeler’s Retreat. Nothing like a deadline to drive progress.
The photos were taken at the Modeler’s Retreat tonite on a module I will be using tomorrow for a scenery clinic.

I've got four sets here that I'm attempting to convert into a viable master suitable for casting enough in resin to cover my needs (Four dozen or so for GN, SP&S, and perhaps other cars). Re: pdf attachment errors

Hi John and Group
Yes, I frequently get taken to the group home page instead of the attachment I had clicked on in an e-mail. This is primarily .jpg's in my case but I have also come across .pdf's that won't load. I have found that I can sometimes view the offending attachment by going into the list of messages on the groups.io site and clicking on the link there, but it is not always available. These are the AMC version of the 1920s ARA steel-sheathed box, with the "innie" version of the early Dreadnaught end.
This drawing shows the taller Dreadnaught end on N&W class BT, but the general profile is the same: https://www.nwhs.org/archivesdb/detail.php?ID=14919 David Thompson

I used Campbell Scale Models chain, which is 42 links per inch. I used 1x6 styrene for the brake levers, and 0.012 wire with clevises made from Grandt Line turnbuckles for the brake rods.

SPECIAL NOTICE – Toronto Railway Prototype Modellers Meet postponement
Current public health concerns due to the spreading of Covid -9 have compelled us to postpone the Toronto Railway Prototype Modellers Meet scheduled to be held on Sat. Mar. 21 at Humber College to a later date at the College. Many of us are older and have a higher risk of contracting the virus. We cannot ensure that proper social distance can be maintained at Humber. We hope that anybody who has paid for travel tickets will be able to get full reimbursement given this situation. Safety for all is our primary concern. Below are the websites of the three government public health websites where you can get the latest information about Covid 19.
https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/coronavirus-disease-covid-19.html
We regret having to take this measure and hope that you will continue to support our Meet in the future when we look forward to again having a great day of modelling fun and cameraderie! We will continue to work with Humber College and will contact you when we are able to reschedule the meet.
Please pass this information onto anybody you know who usually comes to the Meet or has expressed interest in attending.
Our sincerest best wishes to all that you and yours may remain healthy through this challenging time.

you are correct, it is a chicago-clevrland, if memory serves me right?, bob hundman in MM did an article on howto build one of these radial roofs from scratch, and one of the prototype illustrations featured this roof with the bolt head (?) attachments on the rib supports, believe the issue was 8/99 ;-) mel perry
