Budlong Pickle company dates from the late 1850s until 1958 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budlong_Pickle_Company

Tichy has decals for a Budlong pickle car.

Hi List Members,

While looking for something completely different, I stumbled upon this listing for BUDLONG PICKLE COMPANY in the 12-1930 ORER - see attached image

I don't recall anyone ever mentioning BUDLONG PICKLE in the recent discussion - 9 cars designation TW

Stamped car numbers?

Does anyone know if the Southern used metal dies to stamp a car’s road number on its center sill?

The question is to try to determine a car’s original number so it can be painted and numbered correctly.

Quaker City Livestock Express cars became part of General American Transportation’s fleet circa 1935. The QLSX reporting marks were used by General American until 1945. Could be a General American design.

The car ferry SS Grand Haven was formerly owned by the Grand Trunk Milwaukee Car Ferry Company, a subsidiary of the Grand Trunk Railway, operated  on Lake Michigan from 1905 to 1946 when it was sold to West India Fruit & Steamship Co. The ship was built in 1903 by Craig Ship Building Co. of Toledo, Ohio Hull number 92. It ran until 1960 when it was finally laid up.

I believe that the build date is for the 50 ton boxcar that was rebuilt as a 40 ton stock car in 1935. Like the SP's the rebuilds probably retained their original 50 ton trucks.

In the image below, several cars at the end are three-compartment. Oneof them appears to have a fairly large tank diameter - a combination that is not often seen - except on model railroads of course.
