Re: Rock Island decals
I presume that you mean the 1930 vintage cars like
Freight Cars—Wooden - Lake States Railway Historical Association (lakestatesarchive.org)
Sunshine made kits for some of these, and so there must have been decals, but other than that, I don’t recall any decals specifically for these cars. It is a pretty simple scheme and could, perhaps, be cobbled from Champ road name sets. Perhaps Ron Von Werder from Rocket Express would sell you some of his for the auto cars of similar vintage.

The load (which looks like a refinery cracking tower, or kiln of some sort) is carried on 4 flat cars. The wider end is on a Milwaukee, 4-truck flat car. Interestingly, just behind this is a 1942 built Milwaukee Road gun flat. There is another MILW gun flat at the other end.

Re: Sunshine NYC Hopper Minikit?
Bob Chapman
Not a Sunshine minikit, but looking at Brian's NYC photo -- L&N had a similar car, which I did a while back. The sides are spliced Athearn quad and the hoppers Athearn twin, plus some scratchbuilding. Haven't tried to check the L&N prototype dimensions vs. the NYC car, but I recall the L&N prototype being a bit larger than the similar IC car that Sunshine did.
For anyone interested in this modeling approach, there's a complete how-to in Ted C's Prototype Railroad Modeling, Volume 3.

Re: Sunshine NYC Hopper Minikit?
nyc3001 .
Thanks guys. I severely misworded the original question. I don't have one of these minikits, but was wondering if the Alternate Standard hopper was similar enough dimensionally. Now I see that it isn't.
I would be happy to see these come back as well. If the NYCSHS is able to work with a manufacturer and produce the postwar 31'6" offset-side hopper as has been planned, the only apparent missing major holes in the NYC transition-era 2-bay hopper fleet would be the Common Standard hoppers. -Phil

Re: Sunshine NYC Hopper Minikit?
Again, I don't think so. These hoppers are based on the USRA cars. The USRA car diagram is here PRR GLd were USRA cars E-93171 - class GLd The AAR standard offset cars diagram is attached' The truck centers and length over strikers are different and the AAR standard offset cars have the taper at the end three big things off the top. I'd still start with the Accurail USRA car. You might be able to use the MTH USRA car but it appears the grabs are not aligned on the MTH cars and that would drive me nuts. Brian Carlson

Brian, Since you have to remove or do some carving on the original sides, I don't see why not. The AAR Alternate and AAR twins have 11 side stakes. Re: Sunshine NYC Hopper Minikit?
I had these notes with the car at St Louis The never-ending model build – NYC Offset Hopper
The never-ending model build – NYC Offset Hopper • Sunshine Mini-kit (maybe the last) Remove ribs of Accurail USRA hopper, laminate new sides. Done. Seems simple enough. (Could have stopped here 3 Hour Project) • Oops snapped a stirrup step. Ok, I’ll remove them all and replace. • Hmm, …not sure I like the thick grabs. shave them all off. Realize replacing them will be tedious, regret my life choices, Put project away “for awhile”. Summer 2021 come back to model, replace with wire. Including additional wire detail to end and side. • Hmmm… Now looking at photos, the brake wheel, retaining valve, and brake step are in the wrong location. Well, I’ve gone this far. • Remove the offending pieces carefully. Use Tichy parts for the brake wheel and step. Use a scrap box retainer for the retainer. • Add trainline on side. • Add (after painting) air hoses and top mounted uncoupling rods. Any one know of air hose bracket part like the one below

I saw that Eric Hansmann had posted a photo of Brian Carlson's Sunshine NYC hopper mini-kit build. Does anyone know if this hopper is close enough to Intermountain's Alternate Standard hopper to be the base model for an accurate kitbash? iirc, this prototype was built by MDT and numbered 2,000. Thus, I would probably want to build two. Thanks, Phil
