Re: links
Pete Brown \(YahooGroups\) <YahooLists@...>
Hi Al
I usually use my web server's "referring page" logs to keep track of who is linked to me. Running those for a year or more of data (if you even had it) would take forever, though. However, you can get a subset of the results if you go to www.google.com and type your old site's address in the search (leave out the http) and click the search button. You will then be able to get options to list "sites that contain ...", "sites that link to ..." etc. Keep in mind that it will only return sites that are cataloged by Google. That is pretty much every major site, but few of the tiny personal sites. The only way you get into Google is by submitting your site (free), or by being linked-to on a site that is already cataloged by Google. a note from Al Buchan PRRT&HS
Greg Martin
All,
I received this note from Al Buchan this morning and knew I should pass it along to all of you... Bruce is very active in all areas of modeling and very strong within the PRRT&HS... I hope you will join in with us and wish Bruce Smith God's Speed... Now from Al... Dear friends: It is with much regret that I advise you that our very good friend and fellow PRR modeler Bruce Smith is in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism. His wife, Tami emailed me this morning about his condition. The good news is it appears that he turned the corner yesterday afternoon and is on the road to recovery. The bad news is he will likely be in the hospital for the next 3-5 days (perhaps longer) and it is not very clear at all how much he will be able to do in the coming weeks. What a trooper he is, as he told Tami to contact me as I might be waiting for stuff from him for TKM and he wanted me to know it would be delayed and not sure for how long. Please join me in praying for Bruce's rapid recovery and return to his normal activities. Those wishing to send him a get well card, his address is: 642 Woody Drive Auburn, Al 36832-3400 Al

Re: Genesee Brewing Company Reefer
Wow, this generated more discussion than I expected. I happen to have
the Walthers car handy and it is a wood sided car (not that that means it is correct) and the reporting marks are GBCX 107. Other data includes CAPY 7000 lbs LD LMT 80500 lbs WT 51500 E.R. 11-33 Rebuilt 8-33 (to the right of the above data) It Sides are painted white, ends and roof brown, Lettering on the sides is black with a red GENESEE and red cicle around a black circle on the right side. Maybe someone can find it in a 30's ORER. The 1960 and later Genesee and Wyoming cars are from a totally different railroad. Keep in mind this is an earlier T-M car from and era when Walthers didn't really care about protype correctness. First of all, I would be <extremely> surprised if there ever was the
slightest connection between the Genesee & Wyoming RR and the Genesee brewery. Secondly, if there is an ORER listing that spells "Genesee" with two "s"'s, it is a <typo> that misrepresents the word's spelling completely. I know of no legitimate regional business entity that uses the Genesee name without spelling it correctly. Multi Compartment Tank Cars
jstyron <jstyron@...>
I was doing some research on tank cars used in wine service today,
and discovered that the ORER does not give specific information as to number of compartments. The cars and car numbers are listed, and Pounds Capacity, but that's it. Nothing in the exceptions. I am told there is another register of private/leased cars. Does anyone know of such a list, or a way I could get more specific information on multi compartment wine cars owned by GATX, SHPX, CDLX, etc. How would a customer order cars for a particular purpose from the private car companies? Did they hand out their own internal registers? I'm talking about early to mid fifties, here. Thanks in advance. -Jay Styron
