Gents,

I am searching for a couple of steel Western Air Dump Cars that were
made in brass by The Car Works. Anyone have them in your collection
that you might want to dispose of, or know of a dealer with a few in
stock?

Thanks,

Red Caboose makes a Superior brake wheel for the CNWHS sponsored M&StL 37ish

Does anyone on the list know of the availability of any of the following
detail parts in HO scale?

1) Early Equipco brake wheel (the one with holes in the center ring,
not triangular cut-outs)?

2) Lever handled brake assembly (other than the Ajax in the P2K gon
kits, or the one on the Tichy sprue)?

3) Two-step,w/angled bottom step - stirrup steps?

4) Superior brake wheel?

5) Klasing (vertical) brake wheel? Any?

6) NICE 8-rung ladders?

7) Early (but long version) "pre-war" Y-town 7' door, in both the
raised splice joint and the depressed splice joint versions?

8) The above, but with the early center/bottom rocker handle?

9) 40' overhanging diagonal panel roof?

10) Straight-taper fixed Dreadnaught Gondola ends?

Oh, also, is Detail Associates still making all their parts, or just certain
ones?

Thanks for any help!

Regarding your question of 8-rung ladders, it depends on the car
height. Branchline makes a nice set of 8-rung ladders for AAR box cars
of 10'-6" IH and Des Plaines Hobbies offers a set (actually created for
1937 AAR Canadian cars) for 10'-0" IH cars.
Detail Associates makes 8-rung ladders for 10'6" cars (DA 6241). Out
of stock at Walthers. Red Caboose also tooled 8-rung ladders for their
10'6" ex-Front Range box cars, part #8700-03, also out of stock at the
manufacturer.

Here is a lever brake from Detail Associates -- I think it was tooled
for modern intermodal cars but it may be adaptable for other uses.

You can shorten a 50' ZU eave roof to make a 40' version. :-) The only
40' versions are made for reefers.

We tooled a Miner drop handle lever and brake for the Accurail USRA
twin hopper. We got so many complaints about the small part that I
eventually burned it into the body cavity, but the separate dainty
little part is still on the parts sprue, first part from the sprue
bushing.

Elden,
This hand brake comes in the InterMountain PFE R-40-10 kit. However, be
wary as I've seen a lot of them with substantial amounts of flashing.
You get a "free" extra hand brake of this type when ordering the ART
cars from Amarillo RR Museum, since these kits also include the correct
Universal XL hand brakes used on these cars.

Your MAY podcast streaming file is OK, but the download is the same as
APRIL. Can you fix? It's much more convenient for me to listen to a
