I measured the decal image on my screen (Microscale decal sets are exactly 8.0" tall) and I came up with a scale 52" size for the tall C&NW. But I agree with you I think the airslides had somewhat thinner letters or they were just taller giving them a thinner appearance (higher ratio of height to width).. Tim

These are close but no cigar I don't think. On the Airslides the black areas of the CNW were thinner. It is hard to gauge how high these letters are.

Lettering help
roblmclear <rob.mclear2@...>
Hi guys
I have recently been given a kit of a Baltimore and Ohio M-53 Wagontop boxcar in N scale. The decal instructions with the kit are a bit vague and state not to use the Herald and B&O. Now being normally a western road modeller, ATSF, SP, UP etc, I'm not sure what this means, does anyone have a photograph of this car in the 1947-1949 time period or some idea of how the car should appear. TIA Rob McLear Brisbane Australia.

NEFF RPM Final Update - Please RSVP
bnpmodeler
Greetings all, and please pardon the cross-posting.
The 2009 Northeast Fallen Flags Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet is just a few short days away, taking place this Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 at the L.H. Taylor Firehouse, 7 Maryland Avenue, in High Bridge, NJ. We have a great line-up of presentations and vendors on tap, and with the included lunch, this is sure to be a great day of modeling, education, food and fun. The fall colors are starting to pop here in High Bridge and it looks like it will be a great day. We are writing this final update to request that if you plan on attending the meet, PLEASE RSVP to us so that we have an idea of attendance; since we are not pre-registering attendees, this is the only way for us to gauge how many to expect. So, if you plan on coming out, send us an e-mail at neffrpm@yahoo.com. The Firehouse is not a huge space so it will be nice to know how many are planning on attending. If you have any questions or are in need of additional info, again, drop us an e-mail and we will do our best to help out. Other than that, if you are coming, bring as many models for the display tables as you are comfortable with; there will be plenty of display tables as well as seating. See you Saturday; Jim Harr Ralph Heiss NEFF RPM co-chairpersons

Does anyone know if underframe drawings of the Erie's 1932 ARA boxcars
appeared (Or C&O or NKP) in any of the car builders cycs in the 1930's. I am reviewing the Atlas model and underframe has some issues with mis-located components. I like to find a better drawing or photo of the underframe of the Erie cars to confirm. NKP or C&O cars would be acceptable also since it appears they had similar brake and foundation equipment since they were AMC roads. Brian J. Carlson, P.E. Cheektowaga NY

Does someone on the list have a recommendation of a cutting tool and any special cutting technique? Tom
