I have yet to encounter a Sunshine kit that is not buildable. Hard to build, yes, but not unbuildable. Very, very few model trains are perfectly engineered. The Gould (now Tichy) kits came close. Kadee PS-1 and PS-2 cars come close. Only a few resin kits (from Railyard and SC&F) come close. And of course, if you don't like Sunshine kits, don't buy 'em. I don't think Martin's going to re-engineer them now. YMMV.

BC RPM meet coming up
Greg Martin
Here's a note I picked up and I feel we can get behind. Another Prototype Modelers Meet! You might recognize some names as well. These folks were very supportive of our Rails by the River Meet in August, might see you there.
Greg Martin BC RPM British Columbia's Own Prototype Modeling Event Just a reminder, BC RPM is now only six weeks away. Since it was first announced we have another five clinics confirmed for the weekend. More clinics will be added in the coming weeks so stay tuned. I do not believe that assumption is still valid. I shoot straight Future on models most of the time. It can be thinned with Testors Airbrush Thinner for Acrylics. The Polyscale thinner has caused problems. Gene Deimling

Did you thin the paint at least 1:1 with thinner? Did you add a few drops of retarder?

I have used a number of the Star colors. Most of the line that I have used dries to an "eggshell" finish. The one exception is DARK OLIVE. They sell a clear gloss lacquer that works very well. You can use Future floor wax also. Gene Deimling

Marty,
The Star Brand paints I have used dry to what I would call a semi-gloss. The loco I just painted with their Satin Black is really quite flat thus prompting my question about applying a gloss coat before decalling. Lee

Lee,
The Star Paints dry glossy - the finish is very similar to Accupaint or Scalecoat. The only exception may be one or two of the specific weathering colors, but I've not used them so can't say for certain. Marty

I am pleased to announce the release of my latest decal set:
ICG-52 Illinois Central GATC 2600 Airslide Covered Hoppers. The decal set contains enough lettering for 3 different IC cars in the original scheme. The era is 1955 through the early 1990s. The IC rostered 196 of the cars total (across 8 GATC orders), and about half of them survived in original paint until the end.
