Re: Contests (was: NMRA Sacramento)
I attended a regional convention where a physician was to be installed as an MMR. He was true to his profession and his oath by first attending to a convention-goer who took ill.
As for workshop

Wow. I leave the computer for a little while... I guess there
was a lot of pent-up feelings about the NMRA. I have not read the
thread emails yet.

Bill,
They have been actively advertising these cars in the model press to generate reservations. Hopefully they will have corrected the short coming of the pilot models.

The B&O for one did not. Their LCL service was the "Time-Saver Service"

Hi Denny,
How does your rant relate to the tin star conferred upon you by the medical
school you attended and the initials behind your name at the bottom of your
email? What's the difference

Paul Catapano asked:
"GENERALLY did railroads assign cars to LCL service semi-permanently?"
Yes, but the numbers were never as large as the railroad marketing departments
have led many to believe.

Re: Contests (was: NMRA Sacramento)
Several ways.
Enter in an NMRA contest, score the require number of points (87.5)
Arrange for it to be judged just for the Merit Award and not the contest, can be done by the same group that does

LCL c. 1952
GENERALLY did railroads assign cars to LCL service semi-permanently?
Were doors and or dock space reserved for LCL service at larger freight houses?

That of course, doesn't align with the NMRA AP requirements, but I've lost
interest in fighting with these guys about their own rules.
I look at contest pretty much the same way-just like

I'm reminded of a layout tour in the mid-1960s in the Garden State Division. One guy was very nice and mild-mannered. Never tooted his own horn. When we got to his layout our jaws just dropped.
