Tim,
I just said the model was fun to build. And are we complaining about too much of a good thing? : ))

Re: something fishy about this tank car auction...
Tim,
It ended awhile back. I watched in amazememt as these two guys just keep bidding against each other one bid right after the other! What eBay is all about, but I have never been that lucky.

I have many photos of the complete sets of handrails around the dome
with the side platform set lower than the top of the tank -- Set at the

It would be even nicer if the side tooling were symmetrical.
See Ed Hawkins' detailed analysis of this kit in the archives.
The Exactrail model is better, or at least, it doesn't have

This is what I use also. For spot uses, like depicting small patches
of peeled off roof paint, I now almost always use my silver Sharpie pen.
Once lightly weathered and Dullcoted it appears as a light

Scalecoat Graphite and Oil works well too, with perhaps a bit of gray,
depending on the age you want to achieve.

IM Milw RS box car
I started an Intermountain ribside box car kit today. I really think it's one of the best plastic kits I've assembled...well, not quite assembled. Seems the underbody detail sprue wasn't in the box. I

The big insulated ones (103's) had prototypes like Schenectady Chemicals and

There were smaller insulated ones with pressure domes

i would like to know the winner. I do know someone that said he would bid $1000.00 just to get the item. Even if it is worth half. He has the money to blow. He even did it to me!

ALL--I tend to agree with Bruce. I've been the beneficiary of this kind of "contest" as a seller on eBay several times. The items wound up selling for 5 to 8 times more than they were really worth

Has anyone ever seen a prototype photo of this tank car with the unique "drop"
walkway around the dome? I gave on away after about ten years as I could
not find a prototype photo.
