You missed some of the thread which stated that updating Waybills was common.
What I do know comes from actual "feeding station" records. Looking at 281 cars loads at Purcell, OK, in Aug-Sept 1939,

I have to call on this.
Grain milling in transit did NOT require reshipment in the same car.
It did require the new waybill to reference to original way bill(s) for the continuing load. Several

How about a big box? It could hold anything. Crates were common steam
era gon loads. Alternatively, gons carried pipes, poles, steel plate,
steel shapes... and the list goes on and on and

Except the Simplex bolster wasn't cast, it was fabricated, but using few rivets. It's selling point was the structural steel cross members, for those who didn't trust castings not to crack in service.

There was more than one Simplex bolster design too. The TLT truck
is one. I have a hi-res 1967 picture of an SP flanger that has very
different looking bolsters, but cast into the face is SIMPLEX.
