Just a thought on the occasional comment on the
cost of current freight cars. At that site I referenced
notice a complete HO train is $59.50. That was a
special price in '37. $59.50=$929.15

It could also be Globe. I have one at home, and as I recall it has the word "GLOBE" faintly cast on the bottom of one of the running boards where the dome access ladder meets the running

I think Mantua had a tank, way back then, also. I
seem to remember it had a metal frame but have
forgotten what the tank was.

Staffan, I don't mind changing the roof, doors, ends. Matter of fact I'd like to change the look of the car.
I already have a GN 23000 series car. But, won't be against doing another.

If by doing "partial upgrades to these cars" you mean for you to have to do as little as possible to get it correct, the GN straight USRA cars nos. 23494-24493 in the early 1950s had Murphy

Thank you for posting this, I love this stuff too. I can confirm that the Monon did not have any gons numbered 1283 per the 9/3/44 entry. They did later have box cars in this series,
