History of Prototype Freight Car Modeling

Andy,
There is a drilling jig available for the Kadee bracket grabs.
A member on this list, Peter Aue, had made one available. I've used it and it's spectacular. All future bracket grabs for me will

Are these still available? How do they compare to the ladders that come with Branchline and RC kits?

Re: The wait for Sunshine kits
Andy, I have had relative good luck with Ted. I purchased several kits off
eBay and got quick shipping and some additional parts I needed for my
Southern endeavours. I also have 7 or 8 of his kits

Re: Let's talk about ladders.
I couldn't have said it better... the things were extremely tedious to put together but well worth the effort in the end.
This can still be quite effective as Rail Yard Models has done on their kits.

Re: Kadee's new generation of trucks
Has anyone installed code 88 wheels in these yet? I was looking at the Reboxx web site and they recommended a 1.115" axle length for the older Kadee trucks. I tried them in a pair of the new A3s

I ended up with a grand total of two... the Wabash box car and the N&W gondola. I was just thumbing through his ebay (completed) listings... I could have used that P&WV postwar box car but oh well.

Re: Kadee's new generation of trucks
I have installed them on a few cars, they look great but take some getting used to. The self-centering mounting system is sort of a built-in suspension. It doesn't play nice with other mechanisms

I've been waiting 7(?) years for a replacement roof for the piece of bacon that came with my NYC/Rutland baggage car.

Details west makes stainless wire as small as .010 which I use for all sorts

Let's see now, 0.025 in. wire is equivalent to 2.25 in. in HO scale. Those
are some bodacious truss rods!
