Re: Sullivan's Travels Movie

I seem to recall a scene where the director (Joel/Robert) is sitting
at a lunch counter and an LA&SL freight rolls by in the background --
perhaps it was SP, but for some reason LA&SL sticks in

ADMIN: New Format is out of scope

Note the ADMIN message of 6/30/2012. The subject of the "New Format" is out of scope on the STMFC. As Deputy Do...uh, STMFC Judge Aley reported, this is not something we can do anything about

Sullivan's Travels Movie
I think I'll interrupt the discussions about the cost of screws to mention a steam era movie that played recently on TCM called Sullivan's Travels. This movie, filmed in 1941, stars Joel McCrea,

My bad, the FEC had 500 ventilated cars with 5/5/5 ends. I looked at the ACL numbers and according to the tables in Nos.16 and 24 they could not have furnished 140 cars to FGE for their converted

Thank you Tyrone, it is logical that the cars could have come from one of FGE's owners. The FEC cars were not pure USRA cars, as they were ventilated cars w/vents mounted in the ends, and had 7/7

All,
I have posted pictures of the painted and decaled shells of the CB&Q and GN with the Empire Builder lettering using Jerrys decals.

Bill:
I assume you considered the ACL and FEC USRA DS cars. I would think one possible source would be a FGE owner RR. I do not think the PRR or B&O had them. I do not think they would have come from

Re: machine screws
There's this little tool called a tap, which makes threads in the target object to make installation of the screws easier. I suggest you get and use one.

Yes it applies to all groups and yes it is much different in form but really
little different in function. It took me all of two days to get so used to

Yes. Not a problem with individual emails, nor when reading posts on a Group's web site. It seems to be across all groups and is not just a STMFC (or PCL) problem.

George, I am 'enjoying' the same problem. I wonder if it only manifests
itself in the 'digest' mode. Otherwise, I'm sure there would be a lot
more screaming.

Re: machine screws
Tony,
They're cheaper online to be sure, but I just saw $9.70 for 100 1/4" O-80 screws which is 400% higher
than what you posted. Perhaps you haven't needed to buy any screws for a while? :-)
