I was under the impression the big purge of kits below 50.0 was taking place because Martin was overwelmed, but if Sunshine is sold in the future or divided up into pieces, there's no longer a reason

Hmmm? I had assumed they were there for security. On the PRR I've only seen cabooses (excuse me, Cabin Cars) that were assigned to passenger service with the bars (N5As and some N5Bs). These cars

The C&O had one series of cabeese with end windows. They retro'd them with bars. On the branch lines they would sometimes lead on the way back down or going up plus after switchbacks. Tree limbs

1.Fusees, Torpedos, assorted tools and parts used by the crew were stored in the cabooses. In our time period cabooses were assigned to a conductor so there may have been food and other personnel
