Train Life
I just tried to log into Train Life after following the link to the story on C & O boxcars. I get the response that my account still needs to be verified. Since I submitted my e-mail & password, etc.

Re: C&NW freight car brown color
Thanks Norm, I've never used these paints so maybe this is a good time to try. I've got to figure out where to buy them.

Re: C&NW freight car brown color
Ted Culotta used Floquil boxcar red for the CNW single sheathed boxcars inhis Essential Freight Cars #7 in the October, 2003 RMC. From the JackDelano photos, we know that paint faded to brown.

C&NW freight car brown color
Any suggestions for a paint color for C&NW boxcars for the late 1940's. Floquil Freight Car Brown looks close but if anyone has a better story let me know.
Thanks

AB Air Brakes
I think this was asked before, but what data is usually printed on the AB air-tank? I can't find a photo on the net anywhere.
Thanks, Paul Hillman

Re: pause for yard identification
Craig,
The Alton & Southern was an Alcoa subsidiary at this time. Ibelieve the yard was named Davis Yard. The large Gateway hump yard camelater.

Tim,
The switcher is one of the Alton & Southern's Alco's with a crew cab inthe short hood, so your guess seems pretty good. If you view thepicture at the "original size" you can see the window on

Re: nice NYS&W single sheathed boxcar
It is said that they stayed in traffic into the early 60s possibly (?) on express traffic as the NYS&W had dispensed with its PS1 cars as discussed on the group earlier.
