(need to get the trim brown too) as well as Daylight Red and Orange(which
is also PFE Orange) and they look perfect as well. I

Re: C&NW freight car brown color
Ya know, I saw an incredible variety of TCP "box car red" colors for
sale at the Big E train show, and I even bought a few bottles. But I
basically chose them by COLOR, not road name.

Re: AB Air Brakes
Thanks Richard,
Someone sent me the 1946 & 1952 AAR Code of Rules on lettering the aircylinders. I model 1950 and it showed the info as you mentioned and the diagramsfor it.

Paul, brakes were serviced more or less annually, like truck journal repacking, and the railroad, location, and date were stenciled on the reservoir or reservoir mounting.

Train Life
I just tried to log into Train Life after following the link to the story on C & O boxcars. I get the response that my account still needs to be verified. Since I submitted my e-mail & password, etc.

Ted Culotta used Floquil boxcar red for the CNW single sheathed boxcars inhis Essential Freight Cars #7 in the October, 2003 RMC. From the JackDelano photos, we know that paint faded to brown.
