I am curious if anyone has used the Red Caboose PFE 30-9-12 kit to kitbash as an MDT Type 4 Reefer? I know a fishbelly u/f is necessary but I am wondering if anyone in the group has used the RC kit

I sent a follow up but haven't seen it. The cars were converted from LV quad hoppers in 1959-1960ish new entry in 1959 ORER.

As others have said, I too use the Hi Tech hoses. I've had Kadee hoses break the first time I put a finished car on the tracks.

Nelson beat me to it! <G> I was about to suggest the same approach. The rubber air hoses are the only thing you will ever use, once you start to use them!

I am planning on doing about 100 cars on my layout with Air Hose and the brakes hose mounting bracket. Can anybody recommend a brand to buy. They will have Kadee #5 on the cars.
