They are an industrial grade and take tons of use and abuse. I use a pairwhich live in the gage room at work for all shifts and if I buy a digital pairfor my home use that's what I'll buy. After

I agree, I have a source for 100% alcohol and it removes paint of Proto models in sheets, relatively inexpensive as well.

I agree on the Scalecoat remover as i have used it for years. One problem mine is so old that it actually ate through the bottle. I now have whats left in an old olive jar! Still works

I stand corrected. Old wives tale,I believe. And it stuck due to the hygroscopic nature of brake fluid and alcohol.
It's been years since I used it as a paint stripper.

I don't know how bottling plants got carbon dioxide in the old days,
but the bottling plants around here get tank cars of liquid sugar (mostly
corn syrup) and liquified CO2. Coke was (is?)

Until I got my medial blaster I always used Pinesol. You had to watch it so that when the majority of the paint had lifted you rinsed it off. Depending on the type of plastic the model is molded from

Scalecoat uses Xylene -- I think that's what smells. I don't thinkthere's any
of that in brake fluid either. Remember hydraulic fluid is created fromviscous
fluids -- alcohols are anything but

Years ago I bought large (11" tall) PETE jars (made for foodstorage,
bought in the homewares dept) and filled each with fluid --Scalecoat's
remover, Chameleon, Brake Fluid, even Lacquer Thinner. I

I have used lye to strip AHM passenger cars. I found I could leave the cars in the solution (a VERY strong solution) indefinitely. As in several days. Maybe a couple of weeks, if I recall properly.
