I've seen this "tray" effect on a reasonable number of cars. The brake platform looks like the boards were set into it.

As I recall, a good substitute is (was?) a "washout plug" from, maybe, Precision Scale (?). I'm at work and don't have access to my files.

I hated orders of magnitude. Even 10 times would not exactly be rare. Sending messages out between meetings at work allows little time for review and editing.
