I use the snipping tool on my computer to grab these reversed images, stick them into Paint, do a horizontal flip to turn them “un-backward.” I’m sure there are other methods to flip them, this

Interesting. This looks like the same early Van Dyke frameless tank car that subsequently was mounted on 3' narrow gauge trucks and used on the D&RGW

Also interesting is the single rows of rivets where the interior tank dividers are located. Usually what I have seen on these types of conversions are double rivet rows evidencing two interior tank

I think a UN committee came up with the numbers starting in 1975, but they didn't appear on freight cars until mid-1983. That's when I saw my first one (1203, gasoline) on a company service trailer
