pipe could swing out of the way as needed. I've also seen examples wherethe horizontal

Re: PFE Reefer With White Line Stripe (?)
Not necessarily true, Tim. There are places in Southern California that do get snow on a regular basis. After all, one of the claims of SoCal is that you can go skiing and swimming on the same day.

Schuyler
The 1950, 1955 and 1959 ORER's shows 100 50-6 IL gondolas inseries 1000-1099
in interchange service with reporting marks MKC.
They would definitely have shown up occasionally in Elkton,

Re: PRR Keystones ??
Bill and all,
I also think there were cars that had 'just the keystone' (i.e. without
the circle or the shadow) but I don't have a clue as to when those
were being done.
Thanks for the date range

Hi,
Tony's clinic is available online from MRH, back issues April 2013 and
March 2015. The text of those articles is essentially the same as what

Re: Boxcar End Stenciling
The B&O box car number 176419 in that photo is of the M-15f class.
It is a 40', 40 ton capacity wood bodied car with a steel underframe, according to the March 15 1924 B&O Summary of Equipment

Poultry Car
First, ignore the fact that this is another reversed printedphoto.
Looks like a poultry car to the left:

First, ignore the fact that this is another reversed printedphoto.
Here is another example where the end stenciling is not atthe top of the box car. Close, though.

Tony also gave the web address for the notes to his presentation. He also brought a display train highlighting the cars he discussed so the audience (and everybody else) could see the real cars

First, ignore the fact that this is another reversed printedphoto.

Re: What are these extra wide and tall clearance items (wheels showing but no couplers) #2
Railroad ferries such as along the Mississippi River used such ramps to allow for
changing water levels. Tidal areas often used aprons but that wasn't enough in
the river environment. Track was laid
