Re: Tank car with biggest capacity during 1930?
Mm, when were the Jones & Laughlin 20,000-gallon tanks built? They appear (JLSX 1020-1028) in the 1936 tank-car tariff but I don't have an earlier listing.

Tank car with biggest capacity during 1930?
I would like to know what is the tank car with the most gallons in capacity as of the year 1930. The candidate I've been thinking is the 1930-built Santa Fe Tk-L with 16,000 gallons or a little more.

Re: USRA rebuild with a Hutchins end?
Likely an ex-NKP rebuild as offered in resin by Sunshine. I do not remember it origins so I cannot speak to whether it rebuilt from a USRA car or not.

USRA rebuild with a Hutchins end?
Does anyone know who may have applied Hutchins ends to their USRA
rebuilds? I'm guessing this TP&W car is second-hand...

Re: PARTS NEEDED
I already offered to send the DW parts to Bill, but if he prefers
Terry's parts that's ok too. They are very similar to each otherwith
only a tiny difference in height and thickness. For all I know

PARTS NEEDED
I have not done the fitting, counting ribs and comparison checks, but what is the possibility that the ends Terry Wegmann made for his PFE R-30-18 flat kit being useful for this application? Bill, I

Re: SFRD
A little more background on this.
On August 18, 1918, the United States Railway Administration announced thatthe SFRD (Despatch) would be under Federal control of the USRA effective January 1, 1919.

Thanks, Dennis. I was going for an on-line shop because this doesn’t have the look of the typical reweigh. There’s no paint patch with the FA 10-45 lettering on it, it appears to have been

One other item.
The periods after each letter starting in 1902 was discontinued in the 1943-44 period. So S.F.R.D. became SFRD

Rio Grande question - Where is "FA?"
A friend has a photo of a box car (blt ’39, I believe) but it has a legend of “FA 10-45” to the left of the door. Friends who are D&RGW fans (but not on STMFC) have asked me what that means.

Re: N scale SFRC RR-71
John, the Rr-71 had ASYMMETRIC sides - the number of ribs is not
the same on both sides.

Well this discussion has gotten out of the period of this group.
Sorry for the distraction.
I will keep my future comments to stay within the 1960 deadline

Some question about the N scale model being a copy of the Walthers - well it is not.
The RR-71 N scale model had the correct rib count on the side
The door on the N scale model appears correct in

Re: Walthers 50-Foot Mechanical Reefer
This is a whole lot better model than the very poor Walthers HO RR-72 MTC non-model.
The RR-71 was a good selection as there were 175 car built. It appears to be in the as 1962 as built
