Re: ModelMaster/Floquil/Paasche paint bottle/cap size and nomenclature.
I can definitively state that you do NOT want to use Paasche bottles. The threads don't seem to tighten properly, and the gaskets don't seal. I use empty recycled Model Master (glass) or Tru Color

ModelMaster/Floquil/Paasche paint bottle/cap size and nomenclature.
Would listers remind me once again for what bottles and caps what I look for when hunting for spare ½, ¾, 1.0 oz paint bottles. I use and reuse these bottles (particularly the smaller sizes, but

Re: Wabash Custom Decals
Might suggest that one of you contact Ron Sebastian at Des Plaines Hobbies. He has carried Dennis' product for many years, and may know what is going on.

Re: EJ&E boxcars, green n orange
No, these cars were built in 1941. No direct knowledge of the Tichy decals but those that have talked about them say the are very thick and difficult to get to settle down.

EJ&E boxcars, green n orange
Hello all,
I have a sunshine minikit for the EJ&E 60400-60899 series cars. But I have the white decals (as bhilt) not the orange ones as repainted.
I've turned up a set of Tichy decals for the 61216

Wabash Custom Decals
I hope someone can give me information on Wabash Custom Decals. I ordered some over a month ago but haven't heard anything from them and get no response to emails and phone calls.
Thanks,
Bob

Re: Floquil Glaze (reconstitute Floquil paints)
Jon,
Xylene and xylol are two names for the same chemical, also more descriptively named dimethylbenzene.

Hi Jon,
As far as I know they are they same thing – dimethylbenzene. They are three isomers depending on the position of the second methyl group in relation to first on the benzene ring (1,2, 1,3

Is there any difference between Xylene and Xylol. Can't seen to find anything and both are listed together on some cans such as Xylene/Xylol. -- Jon MillerFor me time stopped in 1941Digitrax

Lester, thanks for the information on your experience reconstituting Floquil. I have a stash of about 80 bottles so you provided information I can potentially use.

Re: Substitute for Blacken-It
A bit pricey for what is obviously a copper selenium bath for cold temp blackening.
Search for "J-3498" or "Antique Black" on flea bay where you can get 2 ox bottles for ~$2 plus shipping. Or spring

Re: Floquil Glaze
Jerry,
I have used Floquil Glaze as a base coat for decals and Clear Clear as a topcoat as the latter seems to have a very good ability to hide the edges of thick film decals
