Upgrading a coal gondola
John Golden shares his model work on the Resin Car Works blog. He changes out a few kit details in upgrading a coal gondola to reflect a C&IM

Re: bonsallscalecarshops D&RGW Gondolas
Alan,
The only UCR GS gondola "model" I've ever seen was the old Ulrich/Walthers die cast thingie, which is a pretty close match for an SP G-9 through G-12. I've got one sitting

Re: Truck Journal Conversions
It would likely depend on how it was done... In general, there was a new cast part to replace the wedge, which was designed to bear on the 'sjournal box and on the bearing. Conversions on passengers

I've not heard of this series of Interstate gons, but would like to hear more. Can you share or point me to some photos of these?

bonsallscalecarshops D&RGW Gondolas
36 feet is an uncommon length for a GS gon (most were 40 feet and up), but the DRGW car is very similar to the Interstate 10000-10199 series: cut off the extensions and rework the ends for a single

There certainly was westbound coal over Donner in the steam era (ref: video) but where exactly
it originated from, well, I don't know and as a modeler, it's not that important to know.

Richard, I suggest getting 2-3 if they are offered. The styrene quality varies with these with the worst very much like the old Westerfield "potato chip" resin and getting more that one may minimize
