Rapido Reefer Paint Color Comparison
Here are three variations on reefer orange and reefer yellow. The Wilson car is definitely orange. The Scalecoat II 1 to 5 mix approximates the Wilson color. The Kingan car is medium orange-yellow,

A square herald to the right of the door might identify that as a Central of Georgia ventilated boxcar.

Re: Paint Scheme for Swift 6700 Series Reefers
Thanks for posting the model photos, however, I think Rapido is closer to reality. Atlas is too yellow. Maybe I should post a photo of my Rapido models.

Re: Throwback Thursday Old Kitbash PRR NX23 cabin car
Chuck,
Good work.
Looking at your work get the juices flowing and out to the workbench.
I also agree with eliminating the big couplers … but … would recommend Sergent Engineering’s couplers.

Re: Paint Scheme for Swift 6700 Series Reefers
About 8-9 years ago, I did a lot of work on a fleet of 28 Atlas Swift reefers for a friend of mine with a large layout. I studied all the color photos I could find (there are not many), and did a lot

Sunshine instructions for the Swift 6700 series in the yellow banner scheme suggest chrome yellow (very bright) or a Scalecoat II mix (1 part reefer orange and 5 parts reefer yellow), but that is way

Re: Throwback Thursday Old Kitbash PRR NX23 cabin car
Hi Bob,
Thanks for the comments. The Cannonball Car shops kits were flat styrene kits. For their time, they had pretty good detail.
The trucks that I used were Kadee’s version of the PRR

Fenton,
Consider Yellow Ochre, perhaps lightened just a touch with some white.

Re: Throwback Thursday Old Kitbash PRR NX23 cabin car
A really fine looking model. I assume this was the polystyrene kit.
Trying not to nit-pic, but what about the trucks shouldn't they be some PRR type truck.
Regards,
Bob Witt

Re: Paint Scheme for Swift 6700 Series Reefers
I’ll look at the RMJ and MR articles. I’ve learned not to trust model photos, as even some cars in Sunshine instructions and PDSs are built and/ or painted wrong, e.g. cross bearers and/or cross

Question: does anyone have a 'go to' paint for the Swift Yellow color?? I prefer lacquers.

The Feb 1993 RMJ has color photos of models built from these kits, that might answer your questions. I have only a low-res scan and can't tell. In the Oct 1953 MR Paul Larsen has an article on
