Normally, the attendant’s name was put in that location. I assumed the attendant’s last names was “Sample”.

Well, sort of what I was talking about, except that the link you posted is not to a troop sleeper, but is rather to a P78 coach conversion. These would not have traveled off of the PRR at all.

MP and, I think, Santa Fe stenciled theirs on the inside wall, about head height, usually left of the door opening on each side. This might have been in addition to the door.
