Hear hear! Those are spectacular castings at very reasonable prices. I wish I knew
what the heck they were used for! What does a "blooming mill stand" do?

Well, the MONON did it differently, according to retired Monon engineer Ron Marquardt.
Not wanting over dimensional loads to languish the MONON placed them on the head end of local freight

Re: PRR Stock cars on Southern Pacific or Union Pacific tracks?
Ben & Bruce,
Thanks for the information on the PRR stock cars.
I thought as I typed Tuscan that it might not be right so thanks for providing the correct name.
Cheers

Late to this discussion, but just raising my hand here . . .
There were a series of heavy-duty flats imported by E&P some years ago, in brass. I have two of them, one an ERIE four truck eight

Re: PRR Stock cars on Southern Pacific or Union Pacific tracks?
Dave,
Well, if they are really painted "Tuscan" they aren't accurate for anyone 😉. PRR's freight cars were painted "Freight Car Color" which is also an oxide red, but not the same oxide red as

Dave North asked:
"I checked Bowser for HO models of the K11 stock cars and they have two paint schemes.
One is all Tuscan and the other is Tuscan with a galvanised? roof and doors.
Are either or both

Outstanding that you caught that train Brian! The spaced out loads may have had something

Re: High and Wide ops was D&H Flat
I once saw a train on the SP Houston-Dallas line that had 6 heavy duty flat cars at the head of the train. They were separated from each other by boxcars, and each had a large electrical transformer.
