Both CGW series had the "Murphy" radial roof, which is very similar to the Hutchins radial roof except for lacking the indentations in the corners of the seam caps.

I think the schemes were simultaneous. Most of the silver & black cars had butt welded hip roof, most BCR had Radial roof as modeled by the Speedwitch kit.
