the straight arms have a chain and what looks like a hoist, so with that and the missing coupler I would say that's how they are changing out the coupler without having to lift by hand.

I am finishing up on a PS-1 build. The kit is by Intermountain. I think that is the finest PS-1 I have ever built. My only beef is that the right side ladder/stirrup piece is weak whete the stirrup

There were two, count 'em, two AHM PS-1's. Roco did the first. At some point Bernie Paul of AHM didn't like the price Roco quoted on an additional run, so he sent one of the Roco models to someone

The Q painted all boxcars a mineral red color on all surfaces including trucks through 1958. I don’t model beyond that date, so I won’t comment on the Chinese Red era. I like Tru Color CB&Q
