40-yr. limit (Was: Frisco Stock Cars)
Chris Abernathy forwarded this from Vince Griesemer:
Was there a 40-year limit in those days? I thought this limit was a much
more recent rule.

SE reefers
Since we are talking about reefers, I have a more general question. What
line of reefers brought SE produce to the midwest? How about to the east.?
I am looking for about 1953 or so.
TIA,

Re: Swift meat cars
Norm,
Classic Freight Cars Vol. 3 is on 40 ft. reefers. There are several great
shots of Swift reefers at the Sioux City Iowa plant taken in 54. Most cars are
red, but there still are yellow cars

Re: 50' box cars, car assignments, and WWII
Jack,
The railroaders who told me about the 50 cars of cans were talking about the
50's and 60's. The cars listed below are from 1954 to a cannery on the Minnesota
Western. A Minneapolis shortline.

Re: 50' box cars, car assignments, and WWII
Vancouver B.C. (i.e. west coast (Canadian) fisheries) had a large American
Can plant, but I've never seen 50' car spotted there in any photos. Loads
of 35' and 40' cars instead.

Thanks Clark for that bit of information. I assume you are talking about
