Regarding the Ethyl emblem, it goes back further than 1952. It was used on cars as early as 1944 and likely prior to that, as well. Printing decals for them (dekuhls in Canadian).

I just found my copy of a September 2004 RMJ article that Richard Hendrickson wrote about the 6000 gallon pressure tank cars used for chlorine and in there he states that the orange and black scheme
