Re: Who manufactured this car?
HO Seeker publishes catalogs. The date cited may just be the date of the catalog, not the actual debut of the model.

is this a top chord reinforcement
Top chord reinforcements weren't intended to resist vertical sagging so much as to keep the sides from bowing in and out sideways.

Re: Who manufactured this car?
The subject car appears to be a precursor of the Ulrich car with the cast metal sides. Ulrich was certainly heavily into die casting in the late fifties. I wonder if he was selling non-die cast kits

Re: is this a top chord reinforcement
Yes, reinforcement, and I’d venture that the car’s already got a sag in it, and the reinforcement is intended to not let that get worse!

Note for downloads from the Kinkaid collection:
If you click on a picture in the "gallery" view, it appears that Smugmug creates a "reduced resolution" JPG to display
If you then right-click -> Save

I purchased this kit in October of 1960 and it carries the road name and number Pere Marquette 89920. The outside bracing is, indeed, pot metal. I have just pulled it out of service as I am thinning

Thanks guys!
Note to self, when attaching photos in .io groups, use attachment instead inserting as a picture as that makes a tiny pixilated photo. Trying again here.
Fenton, assuming it is the RCW
