I agree the stringer in the photo has received damage. But, because these cars were revolutionary when built and received a lot of press, extensive write ups in both Railway Review and Railway

Sorry, Jim. I was following up on the discussion on doors, and was being incomplete.
Many, many X26 still out there in 1951.

Only six X26 cars on the PRR? In what time period? I model 1951, so there must have been more than that in service at that time.

Group;
There were at least six on the PRR. At least one X26 received a door like on the sole X36 built by PRR as their first outside post box car.
The others are well documented in pics.

Re: Shifted lumber load on SP flat
By using a tapered post with a corresponding tapered wedge, when you drive the wedge in it tightens the post into the pocket tighter than you get it using a straight post, that way it doesn't lean

I was able to extract the small photo of the truck on this photo but not the larger photo. Any suggestions for a computer illiterate?

Ron, Group;
I have the data & drawings, for the P&L changes, but am currently not able to download by class; to note, it was not as simple as “April 1954”, for example. It rolled out slowly

The roofs and under frames are different, probably the height too.

Re: Shifted lumber load on SP flat
An interesting detail of the wedges used to secure the tapered posts in the stake pockets. They look to be driven in from the bottom to compensate for the taper on the posts perhaps?
