Thanks for the responses and the graphic material. The main difference that I can see is that the Lackawanna hoppers were 12 inches longer on the inside and the side sills were thicker too. Otherwise

I don't think ROX 670 is a UTL car; I believe it's a German-American underframe with a newer replacement tank.

Grain was an at least occasional shipment in the slabside cars. While I can't say for sure about the 1950s era they were used in the 1970s and 1980s based on what I saw being loaded at the elevators

IIRC the diecast version of the HO Roundhouse/Model Die Casting 40 Ft Single Sheathed ARA boxcar had the diagonals running opposite direction from the later plastic model.
