Re: Horses as cargo was Gon interior pt 4
Missouri was the largest provider, and thus shipper, of mules in the US up through WWI, and still provided mules to the Army in WWII. And as Bruce says, they were shipped in standard stockcars.

Also widely used in Burma, New Guinea, etc.
The horses I mentioned were “replacements” for huge losses in France, Poland, Germany, etc., due to losses from artillery, and starving civilians.

Philip;
I remember that well from growing up in W PA.
There were many instances of incompletely-quenched coke going out in dump trucks, hoppers and gondolas. That was why there were so many

Very nice build and excellent board weathering. I especially like the truck and wheel weathering. Well done.

Fantastic look there Charlie. I like the color variation on the boards, subtle.
Can I ask - what decal setting solution did you use?

Westerfield CB&Q XM-18 off the bench
Here’s the Westerfield CB&Q XM-18 I’ve just finished. Build was going good but some the decals started breaking up and had to be pieced together. Next I’ll spray with Testors Decal coating.

I used to live in a coal mining area with a lot of coking plants and often the family car would be stuck behind a truck stacked high with coke that had just come out of the coke oven and been doused
