ISO: Prototype Railroad Modeling, Vol. 4
Hi guys,
Do you know where I could get a copy of PRM Vol. 4 or read the digital version? It is apparently sold out at Speedwitch, but there are some NYC boxcar articles that are of interest. I tried

Re: Fw: Three dome tank car
As Steve says, White Rose was a brand of gasoline for National Refining. I photos of their trucks, but not their tank cars.
A white Rose road side neon sign still stands in Menlo IA.

Re: Suitable HO trucks for MILW705000-713999 series mid 1940s
Typo in my original note will have made this confusing for anyone who gave it a look. The series above reflects the correct group of cars; 8’ 6” IH, Z braced boxcars.

Re: All for now...
Mr Probst,
I enjoyed reading the article about your model railroad in RMC a few months ago. Great work. But your prodigious output of freight cars must have swamped the railroad by now. How do

Re: Fw: Three dome tank car
It appears to be a non-insulated tank car. Am I right to assume this means the car would be used for vinegar
rather than table wine?

White Rose was a gasoline trade name used by the National Refining Company. They had some sort of relationship with Peerless Tank Lines. In a 1938 ORER National Refining Company tank cars are listed

Re: NYC Automobile Car Date
Thanks for taking the extra time and effort to look into the roof, Dennis. It’s interesting, even if (as you noted) this alone doesn’t help my date range. I’ll watch with interest any replies

Fw: Three dome tank car
Hello,
This three dome tank car showed up trailing a steam loco, the main reason for the image. I can make out the word Rose, Maybe White Rose?
The photo was taken after 1938, but can't find White

IHB 40’ 1944 boxcar with 5/5 ends
And, unfortunately for us modelers, the Intermountain 5/5 EDE is about 0.040" too narrow to fit a Branchline car, which complicates the otherwise easy kitbash.

lol - no sorry I missed that meet
I assumed we were only talking about the Branchline 1937 AAR kits and not the postwar cars
since those are not relevant to Charlie's question

The Branchline 10-6 kit does not include 5-5 ends. Ergo Intermountain.

Builders photos of both series of cars are on the New York Central System Historical Society online photo archive. Lower res photos are free, higher resolution scans only cost a couple of dollars.

Why is that relevant? The IHB cars had W-corner ends for both types of car.

I didn't follow that exactly -- what do you mean by "earlier design" for the 730-B ?
The 729-B's were the 10-0 cars
The 730-B's were the 10-6 cars
