WRX 9000
On page 122 of Gene Green's reefer color guide there is a photo of WRX 9000, rebuilt in 1954 from a 1936 reefer. The caption says it has eight ice hatches and if I squint I might be able to see them

Re: Brass Steam Locomotives that Pull Freight Cars.
I have stayed away from this because it is really off topic but I will stick my toe in this just once. The core of my steam fleet is 12 Halllmark IC 4-8-2's that have been considerably redetailed and

Yes, I shouldve mentioned, anytime produce was shipped in this fashion there was always a bed of straw. Possibly even straw in between layers as well.

I am in the U.K. and used 0.015” phosphor bronze wire on my Westside SP GS 7/8 but have bought in some 0.018” piano wire for about £3:00 for a metre should it ever need replacement.

I have been told that the MKT also shipped cantaloupes north from Texas in stock cars. Unfortunately, I do not have any documentation on this.
I believe that cantaloupes and watermelons were loaded

Varney used that method and I imagine some of the Japanese builders copied it.

Keep in mind during most of the period livestock were transported by rail the delivery points usually were grazing areas and auctions. Most of these facilities had no steam cleaning equipment.

Tru Color has several metalics, and I think the closest to Old Silver is Dark Aluminum. I haven’t tried Tru Color on gladhands, but since it’s lacquer, it should work.

Nelson,
Thanks for the correction and very useful additional information!
I will look for a paint color similar to Floquil's 'Old Silver'. I don't believe I have any in my stock of old and older
