Re: Photo: ART Reefer 13660 (Undated)
When I hear "shorter door" for a reefer, I immediately think "internal overhead brine tank". I think
that ART did have some of those, which I think were used for frozen foods.

Re: Stain for wooden barrels
Kevin, I agree barrels were not stained, but they didn't remain their original wood color, they weathered to a warm brown. Charlie Duckworth's suggestion is really good. Jerry Michels

Branchline Northwestern G/Y reefer finished
Here’s some old school modeling; the Branchline wood reefer kit build almost OOB. I did substitute wire handgrabs for the sides and on the roof otherwise used all the parts that came with the kit.

Re: Photo: ART Reefer 13660 (Undated)
I wonder if this reefer was meant for another commodity like meat. It has a shorter door and overall looks quite different from the "signature" ART wood reefer.

MofW models (was Re: Accurail MKT 36’ boxcar)
Dennis -
Hmm.
There is no MASS market for MofW, especially completely generic MofW. W&R imported a large number
of prototypically accurate MofW cars

MOW cars, was Accurail MKT 36’ boxcar
Folks,
Or perhaps 3D print or work with resin. A number of resinators have offered (and continue to offer) very nice, often RR specific, MOW cars, such as the Westerfield PRR XL and X23 MOW

I’d paint them a light tan color, paint the banding a metal color and them give them a wash of brown oil paint to have the details picked out.

Ray, barrels were not stained, but I would put steel bands on them using thin strips of aluminum foil.

Re: Stain for wooden barrels
Ray,
As always, it depends, but in general, yes, barrels should be unstained oak.

Time to finish up barrel car project, which means that I have several dozen wooden barrels to stain. Any suggestions would be appreciated; coming out new from barrel factory would likely be a light

Mr Storzek,
With so many of those cars going into MoW use, would Accurail consider some bunk car bodies with windows and end doors to drop over the under frames? We really do not have any camp cars on
