Lettering removal proto 2000 hoppers
I have several black GM&O war emergency hoppers from Proto 2000. I would like to remove the lettering and replace it with Illinois Terminal decals. I have tried soaking the lettering with solvaset

MDT 19293 in October 1940 in Caribou Maine
Another really nice b&w Library of Congress image of John Vachon: https://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/2017792367/resource/
Nice subtle weathering with pealing paint here and there . . .

InterMountain C&O 1937 boxcar with Deco Ends
I’ve had this RTR car for a while and just corrected its most serious flaw. Only 5400 had the black doors; the remaining cars in the series doors matched the sides. I mixed up some TruColor CB&Q

Re: Comet Car Kits
If I remember correctly, years ago I read an article about a modeler who glued similar old cardboard sides onto plastic box cars after sanding off rivets and such. Doors, grabs, and ladders were then

Sunshine Models Kit #F.13 Pressure Tank Load
A friend gave me one of the subject kits. In the box are 5 sections of "tube" for the body of the pressure tank, and 2 ends. There are also 3 small "manways", and a number of straight resin strips

Vallejo equivalent for PFE orange?
Hi there,
I'm working on a Red Caboose R-30-12-9, and its time for paint. If any of you have landed on a Vallejo mix for a faded PFE orange, I'd appreciate hearing what colours you used.
Rob

I remember the Varney paper side kits that my father would buy for me at $1.90. I am not much smarter now than I was then but I could not figure out why the wood frame that you built up would not

Ian's message contains several persistent misconceptions about the "2% rule" (which didn't apply to MCB Spec II cars built before May, 1917), the (in)adequacy of a 2% dome for volatile and inflammable
