Who is trashing them? So far I have seen reasonable critiquing which manufacturers should be open to. I don’t think that kit manufacturers should not be closed off from reasonable criticism simply

That was sort of my point. We make compromises in scale dimensions in other freight car details; mainly because the correct components aren't available, or can't be economically made, to scale.

Oh those pesky decimal places!! 😉 A handy rule of thumb is that one real inch is approximately 0.01” in HO (it is actually 0.01148”).
