Are you certain of that? Enrichment facilities at Hanford and Oak Ridge certainly produced
nuclear bomb materials, and it had to be moved to wherever

Hahahahahaha! No. They transported fuel, and bomb components.
It was a different era and today's safety rules were not in effect.

Re: NYDX (was Date photos from freight cars)
Why did GTW use the NYDX reporting mark? As far as I can tell, only GTW reefers carried the mark.

Re: Atomic Waste Shipments 1950s
Nuclear waste is not always spent fuel and highly radioactive materials. Paper towels and everyday garbage from Xray suites in hospitals is also nuclear waste but described as low level nuclear waste.

Marty,
ATSF 33600 is a Bx-O boxcar. Santa Fe bought 7000 of them between 1905-1907. I can’t tell if that car has an end ladder or not, but they were added in the 1911-1916 time frame.
I wouldn’t

thanks but the L&N Xm-1 has Murphy ends. I just need a good image of the B end. I don’t have RPC18…unfortunately.

Re: [Proto-Layouts] Date photos from freight cars
Marty,
The sharply curved roof and sloping light stripe on the car truncated at the left edge of the lower photo makes me think of a CV milk car in a wet noodle scheme. I don’t know the exact year

RPC18 covered the XM-1. Plenty of L&N photos including a real nice B end shot. One photo of a GA car. Or if by GA you mean General Arrangement drawing, those are included too.

Speedwich Media's Prototype Railroad Profile #1 covers the L&N A.R.A. cars. It is similar to Ted's Essential Freight Car articles in RMC in scope and modeling tips.
