Lester, Al,
I was puzzled by the initial question and the response. The kit builds an 8K gallon, 6 radial course tank car, as built by the Standard Tank Car company and owned by General American

Also note the early application of the horizontal keyhole stenciled on the door

A very interesting photo. Could be DT&I 17300. Above Painted, it notes the Dry Lading Roof.
The other car appears to be a Rock Island Fowler type car. Note what look like slots in the frame

Re: Replacement Steps for Intermountain R-40-23 cars
Well, in truth , I could sell you one part for $4.00, but would still have to charge $12.00 shipping.
USPS and US customs are enforcing rules about any mail that is not "letter" mail.

There is a photo of a five course GATX tank car in the November 1991 Mainline Modeler. Taken May 5 1991 at Rio Vista CA. Lettering is pretty generic.

Re: Open Gon loads (Not scrap)
Street cars often had trucks with different sized Wheel sets. The 2 different wheel diameters was what defined the truck as a maximum traction truck.

Re: CGW Box Car Photo Help
Thans Ed! And thanks Tim, and Doug, and Clark, and all the other fellows who replied offline. I've got more than I can handle...which is never a bad thing when trying to make a model.
