Re: Ted Culotta re MILW Single sheathed box car article on RMC
Bill-
Thanks for the update! The PRR cars, along with the Reading, are pretty attractive examples of the type.
I hope to eventually get the 2D drawings into the hands of somebody that can work

Charlie,
It was a Pennsylvania 4-Wheel Bobber caboose I had been working on and scratch built in styrene based on an Ambroid wood kit. I made 600 parts and had added an interior with furniture.

The box car with the giant door stops has me stumped. I can't remember ever seeing that before.

Re: Galvanized roof paint failure- a Question
My daughter considers anything from Burnt Sienna to Burnt Umber as a shade of brown. That includes most of the 1950s freight car colors, from oxide red to Erie brown.

C&NW had yellow and green in the 1950's. Maine Central had green ARA boxcars with a large yellow logo.

George,
Well, picking nits, we like to think of PRR's freight car color as an oxide RED, not brown 😉
GN plywood boxcars - Omaha orange and green
Georgia RR - silver

Exceptions that quickly come to mind, limited to boxcars (hoppers and gondolas often were painted black):
"State of Maine" -- B&M & NH boxcars
Black - Lehigh & New England
