Clark, how do you tint your Dullcoat? It’s a varnish thinned with lacquer thinner while paints are often enamels that won’t mix! Mystified Bill Jolitz

Long story, but my elders told me that DullCoat was simply clear lacquer with talc added to get the extremely flat finish it is known for. This talc has two side effects, 1) it lightens the finish

Ed Hawkins recommended using TruColor 188 which is labeled as a MKT freight car brown. I add a few drops of ART yellow to lighten it up.

Those MoPac cars look great Charlie. I have two MoPac cars on the workbench right now. What color did you use? I’ve been using Tru Color but it’s awfully dark.
