Bingo. It also means not to hump the car. Pfaudler box tank cars were also so marked.

Re: reefer end of car stencil (began as Rr-69)
I don't think anyone has brought this up before. It was not an uncommon stencil. Anyone want to research
the question and tabulate all the known uses of this stencil ? :-)

Re: CA vegetables sent east ( and non domestic fruit)
I suspect it’s a directive to not kick it down a track on its own. Shove into place and uncouple or have a brakeman ride it to apply brakes to a stop.
Just guessing.

In the photo of Rr-69 in the lower left corner it says "Shove or Ride to Rest". No idea what this means?
Thoughts?

Re: Skeletonized ATSF war emergency gondola
Interestingly the Milw Road skeletonized a small group of these cars in assigned service to a mfr of pipe. The cars without floor and side boards didn't collect dunnage that needed to be cleaned out

Re: SFRC Rr-69 (was CA vegetables sent east)
You are correct. SFRD 1476 it is. Here is the blown up end reporting mark.
Thanks!

Re: SFRC Rr-69 (was CA vegetables sent east)
A touch of dyslexia Brian? :-) SFRC 1476 (the 6 is not legible on my screen)
If it were 1746 it would be an Rr-71.
Both classes (69 & 71) are interesting
