This makes a good case for reloading foreign hoppers off line thus
causing the loaded mile factor to go above 50%. Otherwise the cars

Re: Empty:Loaded Car-Miles for Hoppers
OK, I have to ask.
How can a hopper run more loaded then empty? It is either full or MTY. Like a light- on or off.
So does this mean someone doesn't MTY it and run it around loaded across US?? You

Ed, I am hopeful. Athearn lately has been cranking out modern stuff, and
a lot of it is very good. Recently they announced Johnstown Coalporter

Byron Rose sells a fine set of AB brake parts and other very
interesting tidbits on a resin "sheet". I think they were cast
for him by Al Westerfield. Why do you guys have problems with
resin parts?

I thought someone said that with the Sunshine overlay you still don't end up with the correct upper corners of the side (or something like that.) At that point I put the idea on my far back burner

I don't have experience doing this either, but intend to do it, and have
read about it - It has been covered in Mainline Modeler a number of times by
Bob Hundman.
As I recall it, he simply shaves off

Jack Wyatt ponders:
Check 'em against a Cyc drawing. There's brake stuff in most editions.

Curt, Martin sells a mini-kit that consists of a complete,
very thin resin side overlay for the Atlas hopper. You shave
off and sand down the sides of the Atlas car and apply the

Okay, what ad did I miss? What mini-kit? IIRC, the alternate needs a
whole new side, not just changing the gussets.
